[Sold Out] Wood Fired SUZUyaki Cup Shinohara Takashi First Firing 珠洲柴焼 SZ603
This item was sold out.
Beautiful, gentle and stylis form, richly colored by natural ash glaze.
This piece was fired in the very front row of the first firing after the kiln’s rebuilding, where it received the strongest effects of heat and wood ash, as seen in the kiln interior photo in the follwoing blog.
Natural ash glaze with a hint of blue on the surface. Inside, a thick, generous layer of natural ash reveals a rich palette—green, pink, gray, and black. Evoking the depth of a forest or a quiet, mysterious marsh.
Shinohara Takashi's kiln collapsed in the major earthquake of January 1, 2024, and was later damaged by flooding before finally being rebuilt in October 2025. Firing in a first kiln is always unpredictable, yet Mr. Shinohara achieved a work of exceptional beauty, a commemorative piece.
