SOUKOU Tokoname Red Clay Hand Carving Teapot 宗光/宗弘
Tokoname Traditional Red clay teapot with good clay, nice texture from a few decades ago. Simple pretty carving of Plum flower, bamboo leaves, Pine leaves on the lid and th the body.
The artist SOUKO already retired, no longer making teapots.
He used to be called Master of Rokuro (Rokoro is potter's wheel).
He was one of greatest teapot master in Japan.
His clay is very good as you may able to see in the photo.
Very detail work, strainer mounted inside is handmade as well, and it is very fine mesh.
Red Clay Teapot is typical and traditional Tokoname teapot. It make taste of green tea richer (round and softer)
Good water flow, lid is perfectly fit to the body. Good holding of handle.
