Japan Kamakura-Bori Tray Minimal Design

Kamakura-bori is a traditional carved lacquerware from Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan.

It is characterized by its deep, rich red color, and applying multiple layers of lacquer. This process gives the surface a soft, warm texture.

While floral and plant motifs are common, this particular tray features a rare and minimalist design, adorned solely with continuous chisel marks. The hand-carved patterns, coated with lacquer, create a beautiful yet warm aesthetic.

Its simplicity enhances the presence of the tea utensils placed on it, making it a piece that goes well with any style of tea ware. The shape of the tray also reflects a modern design with a subtle traditional touch.
