SHORYU Oil Drop Pattern Plum Flower 昭龍油滴 SR077

An elegant and noble handmade Japanese teapot featuring a hand-painted plum flower design.

The body is finished in carbon black with a delicate oil-drop pattern that gives a subtle sheen. The black color is achieved through reduction firing using rice hulls in the kiln (smoking process).

The exterior is glazed, giving it a smooth and natural texture, while the interior remains unglazed so that the tea and water come into direct contact with the clay—enhancing a mellow texture.

This teapot is relatively lightweight with a thin body.

The artist Shoryu spent three years researching and developing a special lightweight clay.

It is suitable for brewing all kinds of tea, and is especially well regarded for green tea and white tea.
