Senchado Cloth Mat / Tea Table Cloth for Tea Ceremony
This cloth mat is traditionally used in the Japanese Senchado tea ceremony.
Simply spread it on a tatami mat or table and place your tea utensils on top.
The idea behind Senchado was: “By spreading the mat, any place can become a tea room.”
It reflects the spirit of freedom—enjoying tea without restrictions of place or setting.

Care Instructions for Senchado Mat
Daily Care
After use, gently remove any dust and allow the mat to air-dry in a well-ventilated place.
If the Mat Gets Dirty
Senchado mats are generally not washable. If stains occur, lightly dab the area with a cloth dampened with water and wrung tightly. After cleaning, let it air-dry in a shaded, well-ventilated place until completely dry.
Avoid direct sunlight, as it may cause fading or deterioration.
Storage
Storing the mat while it is still damp may cause mold.
Always ensure it is completely dry before storing.
