This cup has an asymmetrical shape, with undulating edges that evoke the feeling of a natural landscape. Under the glaze, you can see random, horizontal lines—some thick and some thin—created by the potter's wheel, which enhance its warmth and organic feel. The piece offers much to appreciate, from the clay, form, and glaze to the interplay of two colors, the flowing thickness of the glaze, and the hidden elegance in the finer details . And they are so harmonious.
The clay is a unique blend of Hassen XIII.
Most of the clay is from Koishiwara and Nanakuma in Fukuoka prefecture (whereHassen kiln is located)
Takatori Hassen Kiln started in 17th century, produces Japanese tea ceremony ware as main works.
