JIN Guardian Dog Carbonized Grey Mogake Teapot

A tasteful unglazed teapot handcrafted by Tokoname artist Jin Tanigawa.
The lid is crowned with a charming guardian dog (komainu) knob, lending the piece a distinctive and playful character.

The body and lid are decorated using the traditional mogake technique, in which seaweed is wrapped around the teapot before firing. The seaweed creates dark lines across the carbonized grey surface. 

These markings harmonize beautifully with the deep, subdued color of the clay.

This teapot was made from rare Tokoname mountain clay that Jin personally excavated approximately 20–30 years ago. With continued use, its color will gradually deepen and the surface will develop a beautiful natural sheen, enriching its character over time.
