Yamada Sou Wood fired blue  Pitcher Vase 山田想 YS53

Beautiful vessels with round bodies and graceful curves.

This was wood-fired, the blue hue changes with the degree of flame and heat.

The ashes from the wood fall down and create a mysterious scene.
It has good sense of weight and a sense of stability.
It is suitable for pouring water, tea, or sake,  used as a pitcher. The flow of water from the spout can create a steady stream of thin water, and the water stops well. The shape and size are also suitable for arranging flowers.

 The clay is white and rather rough texture. Good match to the blue color.

The Yamada families have been producing teapots in 5 generations.

Sou Yamada is a grandson of Jozan Yamada the 3rd, who was recognized by the Japanese government as Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) .
