Takatori-yaki Takatori Hassen Wabi Carbon Black Cup 八仙炭化
Takatori-yaki Takatori Hassen Wabi Carbon Black Cup 八仙炭化
Artist: Takatori Hassen XIII (13th generation) - born in 1934.
Rough yet elegant. Wild but delicate.. impression of this cup is complex.
Outer body is unglazed, inside is glazed. Interesting texture in your hand.
You may feel nature from the rough texture - it gives good feeling like you are in nature.
Dark brow/black glazing flowing to the bottom of the cup from the part of shaved body. It is sacred.
Looking into inside, it is calm. Color of inner body is very soft white. You see landscape of nature - like snow mountain or lake.
Major component of this glaze is straw ash, which Hassen produced by burning straws in the field.
Clay is Hassen's own blend, which was taken from Koishiwara / Nanakuma in Fukuoka (where Takatori-yaki's place) .
Fired in Noborigama kiln (climbing kiln)
Takatori Hassen Kiln is located in a village of Fukuoka prefecture, the kiln started in 17th century, produces Japanese tea ceremony ware.
