Kensui for tea ceremony by 14th Kimura Chojuro

This  Kensui is weighty, quiet, and serene. It has the appearance of wabi-sabi and dignity. It was used in the Japanese tea ceremony. The purple color clay (reddish brown) color of Bizen's high quality clay, the yellow of the natural glaze, and the gray create a beautiful landscape.

Bizen pottery, mizusashi, vases, and kensui are favored in the Japanese tea ceremony for their wabi-like atmosphere, which matches the calm, natural, and humble nature of the tea ceremony.

The Kimura family has been producing Bizen Pottery since old times and is one of the six surnames(six families) of Bizen Pottery. These six families have been producing Bizen ware for generations since the Momoyama period, and there was a time when only these six families were allowed to produce Bizen ware by the power.
